Evaluation 1- In what ways does your media product use, develop, or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? By Sebastien Perrier

Magazine Analysis

This is the final ancillary product of our magazine Advert. I particularly like the way it came out due to the incorporation of the " Rule of three". We split our magazine advert into 3 different sections, where we felt the the album title and artist should be displayed on the top third as they complement each other well. We also decided to include the Record label on the top half due to space constraints on the bottom third of the page.
In the middle third of the page we decided not to include any text or images as we wanted audiences to focus on the artists representation, and the location he is in. This effort meant that the middle third effectively uses Stuart Halls theory of Coding/Decoding, where the audience need to suss out the meaning of the image. In the bottom third of the ad we can see references from other Indie magazines recommended our album, these were used to boost popularity and improve realism and professionalism. We also included labels of an offline and online store, so audiences know where they can purchase the new album. However our magazine ad could of been better if we included a release date for the album, so audiences actually know when its out, also the inclusion of our website may also have been a nice touch.
