When we created our music video, 'What' by Bob Tink, we had to keep in mind our target audience. The age range for our music video would be late teens to early adults, so ageing from about 17-23 year old's. The gender that our music video is targeted and more likely to appeal to is Male and it isn't targeted to any ethnicity. We believe that our target audience would be those interested in Indie music and would be seen by some as 'Hipsters'. We think that these people would be interested in skateboarding and going to music gigs, not necessarily at the big venues such as the O2, but in small places that wouldn't have a big crowd. Our target audience would care more about the music than the video.
Once we uploaded our video to YouTube we managed to get 87 unique views but 172 views in total. This tells us that people who have watched the video have come back again to watch it. Our video has been watched for a total of 4 hours with the average viewing at 3.09, meaning people on average do not watch the whole of the video. We have also got 4 likes and no dislikes and the video has been shared once.
We showed our finished music video to our class mates and then asked them some questions on it. We wanted to know what they thought of the editing, costumes, semiotics and whether we had included any other theorists ideas. We asked our classmates these things because they wouldn't know what message we are trying to get across and so we wanted to know if they understood the video and and understood the messages that we were trying to get across.
Other than creating the Facebook page, we have not used it, yet we still have 10 likes on it. If we had been putting things up on the page like our progress, rough cuts, a pictures while filming then we could have got more people interested in the page and then we would have a larger audience. We could have also put the final video up to show everyone that follows the page, if they liked it then they could have shared it and then that would have allowed more people to see the video, increasing our audience and it would have allowed us to get feed back and what we have created.
